You Are Not Required to Stay with BSI Financial

Many homeowners don't realize that refinancing your mortgage moves it to an entirely new loan — with a new lender and a new servicer of that lender's choosing. This is often the most effective (and financially beneficial) way to leave BSI Financial as your servicer.

When Does Refinancing Make Sense?

Refinancing is generally worth considering if one or more of these conditions apply:

📉 Rate Reduction

Your current rate is at least 0.5%–1% above today's market rates. Even a half-point reduction on a $250,000 loan saves around $80/month.

😤 Servicer Dissatisfaction

If BSI Financial's service issues are causing real financial harm (late fees, credit damage, escrow errors), the cost of refinancing may be worthwhile to exit the relationship.

💪 Improved Credit Score

If your credit score has improved significantly since you got your original loan, you may now qualify for a substantially better rate.

🔄 Loan Type Change

Switching from an adjustable-rate to a fixed-rate mortgage, or shortening your loan term, can provide payment stability and long-term savings.

The Refinance Process

1

Check Current Rates & Estimate Savings

Use our Refinance Savings Calculator to estimate your potential monthly savings and breakeven period. Refinancing typically costs 2–5% of the loan amount in closing costs, so the savings must justify the upfront cost.

2

Compare Lender Offers

Get quotes from at least 3 lenders. Compare APR (not just rate), loan term, closing costs, and estimated monthly payment. Multiple mortgage inquiries within a 45-day window count as a single credit inquiry under FICO scoring.

3

Submit Your Application

Once you select a lender, submit a full mortgage application. You'll need: recent pay stubs (2 months), W-2s (2 years), bank statements (2–3 months), current mortgage statement, and homeowner's insurance info.

4

Loan Processing & Appraisal

The lender will order an appraisal and verify all documentation. This typically takes 30–60 days. Continue making payments to BSI Financial during this period — do not stop paying.

5

Closing

At closing, your new lender pays off your BSI Financial balance in full. BSI Financial will send a final escrow account statement and refund any remaining escrow balance within 20 days of payoff.
